Women Business Fashion Research

Women Business Fashion Research focuses on professional vetements femme (women attire). Acquiring knowledge about the personal appearances of the professional women is the fundamentals of fashion research for designers. Learning where and why professional businesswomen buy attire for the workplace, however, is significant to understanding target fashion segments. Youth Members of the S7 Fashion Connoisseur will conduct collaborative research aimed to gain a greater understanding of workplace cultures that drive where and why professional businesswomen buy certain vetements.

·     The Women survey focuses on the preferences of the professional business women. The survey encompasses questions about stores, locations, price ranges, and styles. Carroll (2007) stated that women shop and wear more formal vetements than their male counterparts. Nelson (2004) found that women usually choose higher-end retail stores to shop for work related vetements.

·     The Professor/Teacher survey focuses on female professors who mentor in an environment where a dress code is enforced. The author of an online article, Understanding Business Attire for Women, Flanagan (2009), stated that dress policies reflect the work environment. Although dress restrictions may exist, a businesswomen, whether an academia or corporate executive, can incorporate a personal style that presents her passion and inner self.

Through research, Youth Members will gain in-depth insight into the world of professionalism. Understanding the desires of businesswomen and the policies surrounding business attire may inspire new ideas to enhance designs. Future vetements for the professional businesswoman will no longer be driven by costs, but motivated by the passions of the businesswoman.
