Mentoring For the Future of Fashion

Encouraging potential learners to pursue a fashion related career through Visionary Mentorship requires being a great listener and informative and having insight. Few women continue to be chief executive officers (CEOs) in the fashion industry (Watson, 1999). Most Fashion houses from the early 20th century were own by men and passed on to other men. Creating the dominance of men in the top positions in the fashion industry has presented limited opportunities for women (Watson, 1999). Women are mostly employed in the retail and merchandising aspects of the fashion industry (Fringe, 2005). Enrolling in an institute that provides diverse fashion knowledge may be beneficial for current or future endeavors for women, as well as men.

Becoming and actively participating as a Youth Member of the Fashion Connoisseur, a Youth Member will acquire the knowledge that reflects the diligence of being a Visionary Mentor. With this criterion, Youth Members may break barriers for both men and women who take on traditional roles in the fashion industry. The aim of the Collegiate Scholastic Mentoring (CSM) Initiative focusing on fashion will assist in meeting professional and academic goals of potential learners and the needs of the fashion industry while promoting higher learning in a way that ensures a promising future.

Encouraging Any Potential Learner,
You are Taking One Step Towards Creating Future Fashion Visionary Mentors
